Success Stories
aPNT has a long history of successfully delivering value across economic sectors, from government defence and research to commercial partners. Through close collaboration between these sectors, novel and high-impact challenges have been successfully overcome.

Collaborative research between the Defence, Science and Technology Group (DSTG) has directly resulted in elevating Australia's sovereign capabilities for producing and deploying commercialising quantum optical clocks.

Research commercialisation is a core element of the hub's philosophy, with translational research maximising the broader societal impact. This has been exemplified with the commercialisation pipeline developed in partnership with QuantX Labs. To date, over $23.2M in research funding has been executed in partnership with industry.
“... QuantX has been able to directly integrate cutting-edge university research into our technology roadmap. The project has reduced technical risk, informed key design decisions and strengthened our ability to commercialise next-generation optical clocks for both terrestrial and space applications.”
Dr Sebastian Ng, Head of Positioning, Navigation, and Timing at QuantX

Fundamental science and engineering advances, across a variety of metrics including high-impact publications and net grant revenue raised, position academic members at the cutting-edge of PNT technologies and industry best-practices, as well as for translational research to commercialisation.

"aPNT and its members have a strong track record of research commercialisation, and partnering with industry to bring products to market while generating significant IP assets for the University. This track record positions the Hub for success in Australia’s evolving research funding landscape, which is increasingly designed to support this model of research."
